Billie S. Booth Fund Hosts 4th Annual Benefit Dinner to Support NorthShore University HealthSystem Nursing STARs Program

The Billie S. Booth Fund proudly hosts its 4th Annual Benefit Dinner at Ristorante Abruzzo in Deerfield on Saturday, May 19, 2012. All are welcome to attend the event and enjoy an elegant dinner and cocktail reception in support of a worthy cause: The Billie S. Booth Fund.
The Fund was established in memory of Billie S. Booth, a Libertyville resident, who lost her courageous battle with breast cancer in 2006 at the age of 48. In 2009, Billie’s family and friends founded the Benefit Dinner to further the impact of the Fund and support NorthShore University HealthSystem’s (NorthShore) Nursing STARs Program.
The Nursing STARs Program, a partnership between NorthShore Foundation and the Department of Nursing, invites people to Say Thanks And Recognize the excellent care they, or their families, have received from a nurse, patient care technician, mental health counselor or an entire team of caregivers. Donations made to this program fund scholarships for nurses, enabling them to obtain advanced degrees. Since 2009, the Billie S. Booth Fund has raised more than $30,000 to support NorthShore’s Nursing Scholarship Fund, helping to ensure patients like Billie receive the highest quality care from nurses at NorthShore.

“The highly skilled and compassionate nursing care Billie received as a patient at NorthShore Highland Park Hospital meant so much to her. The nurses were always a source of support and encouragement to Billie, especially through the most difficult times of her illness,” said Beverly Strellner, Billie’s sister. “Billie would be proud to support these special nurses and help ensure that others enduring cancer treatment continue to receive excellent skilled care.”
The Fund’s success would not be possible without the generous support of the Fund’s “Directed Raffle” sponsors: Neumann’s Cigars & More in Libertyville; Café Pyrenees in Libertyville; Duxler Firestone-Mike and Joanne Foster of Libertyville; Oliverii Restaurants-Bottaio of Libertyville; Windy City Flyers in Wheeling; Hanakawa Japanese Steakhouse in Libertyville; The Tavern in Libertyville; Le Petit Paris in Chicago; The Seneca Hotel in Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Atz-Raffaello Hotel of Libertyville; S&S Wine & Spirit Warehouse in Libertyville; Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Lincolnshire; and Morgan’s Bar and Grill in Libertyville.
