Authorities ID Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run

WAUKEGAN, IL — A 45-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run collision that happened Wednesday evening in Waukegan has been identified as Jenny Gaston. Preliminary autopsy results show Gaston died of multiple blunt force injuries caused by a vehicle.

Police say the woman was hit by the vehicle at about 5:40 p.m. in the area of Sheridan Road and Greenwood Avenue, according to a post on the Waukegan Police Department Facebook page.

Authorities were initially called to the scene for a report of a person lying in the roadway. When they arrived, they found the woman badly hurt. Gaston was taken to an area hospital where she died, police said.

Police believe Gaston was walking south on Sheridan Road when she was hit by a vehicle. A dark-colored SUV may have been involved in the incident, according to the Facebook post.
