Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle In Libertyville

The vehicle struck the bicyclist early on Sunday in the area of Route 176 and Stitch Avenue in Libertyville.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the area of Route 176 and Stitch Drive in Libertyville early on Sunday morning, authorities said. Officers responded to the collision at 3:25 a.m. and found the bicyclist, who was conscious and alert, in the roadway, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department.

The Libertyville Fire Department treated the bicyclist at the scene and then transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

The collision is currently under investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, the Libertyville Police Department and the Lake County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the bicyclist is not yet being released as authorities notify his family.
