Boomers and Seniors: Don't Go Broke in a Nursing Home

Learn what you can do to protect your assests from a long-term care nursing home stay.

How do you legally and effectively protect your assets from a long-term care nursing home stay? This workshop will be taught by a local Attorney-CPA. During this class you will learn how to protect your assets from nursing home costs. You may be able to save more than you would expect even if your loved one is already in a nursing home. Find out one of the most important legal documents you need, and the three things it should contain. Some feel that traditional estate planning may not work, so learn the long-term care planning steps you should be taking instead. Avoid being disqualified for Medicaid coverage by learning to properly structure transfers. The class will also help to ensure that you can legally and ethically provide a “rainy day fund” for yourself, provide an inheritance for your heirs, support yourself even if you have a nursing home-bound spouse, and qualify for hidden veterans’ benefits to help you stay at home longer if you need care. Gold Card Fee: $9.50. Tuition: $19. Class meets 7:00–9:00 PM, Wednesday, October 28, at Libertyville High School. Registration is required. Register online through District 128’s Community Education Department at www.ComEd128.org, or call 847-247-4576 to register by phone.
