Boy Shot By Acquaintances In Gurnee: Police

The juvenile was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

GURNEE, IL — The Gurnee Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday evening. Authorities say a boy was shot in the leg by acquaintances after meeting them in a parking lot near the intersection of Stearns School Road and Dilleys Road at about 5:50 p.m., according to a news release from the police department.

A preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed the boy was shot following a fight between him and the acquaintances after he'd agreed to meet in the parking lot, police said. Following the shooting, the boy drove a couple blocks away before calling police.

The boy was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for treatment of injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department.

Officers with the Gurnee Police Department and K9 officer Hunter searched the area. The acquaintances left the area before police arrived, and authorities said the incident appears to be isolated, according to authorities.

Investigators are actively working this case, and any residents or businesses in the nearby area
with exterior surveillance cameras are encouraged to contact the Gurnee Police Department.
