LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Police Department is asking for the public's help in tracking down three burglars accused of tricking a Libertyville homeowner into letting them into their house.
Police say they were called to the 700 block of Ascot Court at about 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 18 where they learned a man came to the front door and told the homeowner he needed to inspect the home's water for a "dangerous bacteria." He then walked with the homeowner to his backyard, according to a Libertyville Police Department police report.
At the same time, two other men went into the home and ended up encountering the second homeowner who was in a bedroom. They proceeded to look through dresser drawers before the homeowner began to yell and called 911.
