The McHenry man faces new charges following the incidents reported in Vernon Hills in recent days.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 42-year-old McHenry man convicted of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old child when he was 16 years old faces new charges after police said he was found parked outside schools in Vernon Hills with a "giant teddy bear" on his truck.
The Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting Timothy H. McKinney-Murphy, who is a registered child sexual predator, has now been charged with violation of the sex offender registration, five counts of child sex offender loitering and sexual predator loitering near a public park.
His pickup truck was spotted parked outside Hawthorn Elementary School North, 301 West Hawthorn Parkway, last week. It was also spotted parked near other schools, police said.

McKinney-Murphy was told by officers that, since he was registered as a sex offender, he could not be present within the school zone, according to the article. He was also told to get rid of the teddy bear, which was sticking out of the back of his truck.
McKinney-Murphy has been ordered to remain detained as court proceedings move forward, and he is next expected in court on October 15 for a preliminary hearing.
