Committee Considers Ways to Promote Libertyville

A subcommittee of the Marketing Committee presented three ideas for promoting the village at Tuesday's meeting.

A subcommittee of Libertyville's Marketing Committee hopes its ideas will encourage people to shop locally in Libertyville.

At Tuesday’s Marketing Committee meeting, Antonietta Simonian, a member of the Shop 60048 subcommittee presented three ideas, which includes gift cards, reusable bags and window clings.

Members of the subcommittee spoke with Libertyville Bank and Trust representatives about creating a gift card with “Shop 60048” or a design that includes that group’s logo imprinted on the card. The group hopes the card would be available in $25, $50, and $100 denominations, and they would like to have it available for purchase before Thanksgiving.

Another idea the group is considering is purchasing or making available reusable shopping bags that would have the "Shop 60048" logo on it. The subcommittee is interested in finding sponsors to help offset the cost of the bags, and in return, the sponsor’s logos would appear on the bags.

Marketing Committee members questioned whether stores would sell the bags if their own logos were not on them. Simonian said she would look into whether stores could order bags through a vendor that would have only their own logos on it.

Window clings to promote shopping local

The third idea Simonian presented was to sell clings for store windows. She thought Future Business Leaders of America students from might be able to sell the clings as a fundraiser for the school.

Other members of that subcommittee included Cecilla St. Martin and John Timony.

Next meeting to discuss website

The next Marketing Committee will be held jointly with the Special Projects Committee at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 to discuss the village's new website, which is expected to go live in mid-December.

The committee also voted to meet bi-monthly so that subcommittee members have time to meet.
