Construction Update on Libertyville West Parking Lot

Village work continues on improvement project.

The Village of Libertyville thanks residents for their patience and understanding as the village comes much closer to completing the parking lot improvements. The parking lot has been fully paved and the landscaping is being installed.
Due to the cold and wet weather today, crews were not able to stripe the parking lot; however it did open on Thursday (4/19) afternoon so that customers could use it through this weekend. While this may present some alignment challenges, it should only render a few spaces unusable.

The following items remain to be completed:

Striping- Weather and temperature permitting, the village plans to close the lot on Monday, April 23, to complete the striping; the lot should be open by the end of the day on Monday.

Installation of Patterned Concrete Crosswalks and Drop-off Island- As indicated previously, crews will saw cut the new pavement to install three-colored, brick patterned crosswalks and the raised island next week (weather permitting).

The parking lot will be open for parking during concrete work, however access through the lot will be limited. This work was delayed to prevent/limit the tracking of new asphalt across the new concrete. The concrete will take several days to cure and strengthen – no more than five days.

The remainder of the work will be minor: gates for the new dumpster enclosures and punch list items, none of which will require a closure of the lot (at most only small portions).

All told the Village has spent almost $10 million dollars on the parking garage and the surface lot. While the process has been somewhat painful at times, the village is hopeful that everyone is pleased with the finished product and its desire to enhance the Libertyville experience.

Please be reminded that parking is available in the parking garage and pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses while the parking lot is closed; please patronize those businesses that are adjacent to the construction area while the construction is on-going!
