Countryside, Libertyville Fire Work Together During Polar Vortex
The local firefighters created a special unit aimed at responding to calls related to the cold weather.
The Libertyville and Countryside fire departments work together during the polar vortex to help area residents affected by the cold. The two agencies staffed a special unit on Tuesday through Thursday and equipped a truck with gas leak detectors, tools, a ladder, portable heater, battery jump pack, shovels, medical gear, according to the Daily Herald. During the three days, the special unit responded to 35 calls, which involved gas and water leaks, digging out fire hydrants and patient care.
