District 70 Teachers Honored for Reaching Tenure Status

Congratulations to the six staff members who recently reached tenure status.

Libertyville Elementary District 70 honored 6 staff members at a Board of Education meeting this week for reaching tenure statue.

Staff members being honored included Rockland Principal Jeff Knapp, Highland Middle School Assistant Principal Lorenzo Cervantes, Highland Middle School Dean of Students Megan Russell, Adler Park teacher Whitney Adelman, Adler Park teacher Michelle Bauer, and Rockland teacher Mike Kolar.

“We are so proud of all that you do,” Supt. Dr. Guy Schumacher said when awarding the staff members tenure at the Aug. 24 school board meeting.

“Your collective achievements are considerable and your value to the district is appreciated,” he said. “We honor you now for your dedication to District 70 and your commitment to the field of education.”

The certificates were handed out to the teachers by Board of Education President Tom Vickers, Dr. Schumacher and Director of Human Resources Dr. Tom Bean.

In the state of Illinois, a teacher becomes tenured after four successful years of satisfactory evaluation/review by the school principal or district administration. This includes a series of required classroom observations, the monitoring of lesson plans as well as goal appraisal, and the overall fulfillment of requirements listed in the District 70 teacher evaluation system.
