Do It Yourself Estate Sale

Get tips on how to hold a great sale.

What do you do when the time comes to handle your parent’s or relative’s estate? There is always the question of what furniture and valuables to keep, sell, or donate to charity. There is also the sorting out of items which have been in the house for the past 30 years or more. A professional estate sales company can do the work for you, but if you have a small estate, you might consider doing it yourself. This introductory course will show you how to conduct your own successful and profitable estate sale. If you have lots of energy, several helpers, and a good plan, you can do it. Here you will learn the basics of a do it yourself estate sale: how to create the inventory, how to organize your items, best strategies for pricing your items, and the logistics of the estate sale. Gold Card Fee is $17.50. Tuition: $35. Class meets 6:00–8:00 PM Tuesdays, October 20–October 27, at Vernon Hills High School. Registration is required. Register online through District 128’s Community Education Department at www.ComEd128.org, or call 847-247-4576 to register by phone.
