Driver Injured After Car Drives Into Cook Park

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville police are investigating a collision that occurred after a vehicle drove off the roadway and into Cook Park before colliding with a bench and a tree, authorities said.

The incident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department. Authorities say no one in the park was hit by the vehicle.

An initial investigation revealed the collision occurred while a black sedan was headed south on Route 21 at Church Street and into a portion of the park. The driver was extricated and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the news release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
