Drunk Teen Punches Uber Driver: Libertyville Police

The altercation occurred during the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A Libertyville teen is accused of punching an Uber driver during the early morning hours of New Year's Day in Libertyville, police said. Nicholas M. Belluomini, of the 500 block of West Park Avenue, was taken into custody following the altercation and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and battery.

Authorities were called to the 100 block of Blueberry Road at about 2 a.m. on Jan. 1 and learned the Uber driver had been punched by one of four passengers in his car. He sustained a minor injury, police said.

The person who punched the Uber driver then fled on foot. Authorities were able to identify the driver as Belluomini and made contact with him, according to police. Officers determined the 19-year-old man had been drinking alcohol and was impaired.

He was arrested and taken to the Libertyville Police Department where he was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Belluomini is next expected in court on Feb. 26.
