Drunken Driver Crashes Into Garage at Libertyville Home: Police
A Libertyville homeowner woke to find the crash outside his home early Sunday, police said.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 23-year-old Lake Villa man faces several charges following a drunken crash into a tree and then a garage at a home along West Winchester Road last weekend, police said. The collision occurred at 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Winchester Road. A homeowner called police after hearing a loud crash in his yard and then finding a vehicle that had hit the tree in his yard and his garage, according to a police report from the Libertyville Police Department.
Nobody in the home was injured.
The driver, Sheamus M. Ronayne, of the 600 block of Farmington Court in Lake Villa, told police he’d been drinking at a local bar prior to the crash, according to the police report.

He initially cooperated with police but “became increasingly uncooperative as the crash investigation began to focus on his level of intoxication,” according to the police report.
Ronayne was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center and was later released and taken into custody.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operation of an uninsured vehicle.
He was released after posting his driver’s license and signing a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. He is next expected in court on May 31.
