DUI Arrets in Libertyville: Police Blotter

A look at recent arrests in Libertyville.

Libertyville Police as well as officers across the Chicago area were out in full force over the Thanksgiving week, keeping an eye out for drunken drivers. In Libertyville, police made the following arrests for drunken driving:

  • Police observed a vehicle speeding while traveling south on Butterfield Road and pulled the driver over at Butterfield just north of Victory Drive at 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 22. The driver, Yelena Fialko, 46, failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody for drunken driving. She was taken to the police department and released after posting her driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. She is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol over .08, speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. Fialko, of the 500 block of South Lyman Avenue in Des Plaines, is next expected in court on Dec. 6.
  • Authorities pulled over a vehicle observed speeding and traveling outside its lanes on southbound Milwaukee Avenue at 11:13 a.m. on Nov. 24 on at Milwaukee and Artaius Parkway. Police said Nicole Zawacki failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for drunken driving. Zawacki, of the 500 block of West Lodge Trail in Wheeling, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage. She was processed at the Police Department and released after posting her driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. She is next expected in court on December
  • Michael Girot, 51, was arrested after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle at 3:08 p.m. on Nov. 25. He refused medical treatment and after failing sobriety tests, was arrested for DUI. Girot, of the 17000 block of West Gages Lake Road in Wildwood, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was processed at the Police Department and released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. Girot’s court date was scheduled for December 7.
