Fill-a-Heart-4-Kids (FAH4K) Brightens the Summer of 1,350 Foster Children and Homeless Youth With a Special Delivery!

CHICAGO, IL (JUNE 2019) – As the school year comes to an end, Fill –a-Heart-4-Kids (FAH4K), an organization that provides unaccompanied homeless youth and foster children in Chicagoland gifts and tools to help them thrive, delivered 1,350 Project Flip Flop packages to group homes and support sites for unaccompanied homeless youth in the Chicagoland area. FAH4K acknowledges that for most foster children and unaccompanied homeless kids, summer vacation is a painful reminder that they are not in a forever home. This project helps kids without the support of any family start Summer feeling loved and remembered!

Leading up to June 14, 2019, National Flip Flop Day, FAH4K:

Project Flip Flop packages contain flip flops, journals for kids to capture their thoughts and doodles, colored pencils or gel pens, cards or stress balls and a $5 gift cards for special treat at Dunkin’ or McDonald’s!

As the school year comes to an end, foster children and homeless youth hear their classmates talking about what they're going to do over the summer - camp, taking swim lessons, going on family vacations. It's painful when teachers ask their students to write down what they are going to do over summer break. It’s another reminder they came from a broken family. They wish they had parents who looked at their report cards. Homeless kids worry about where they’re going to get food. Group homes can't afford camp or expensive lessons. FAH4K works hard to help all their sponsored children receive the tools they need to survive, feel loved and experience special experiences like their classmates.

Project Flip Flop is just one of over 200 annual volunteer opportunities and fundraising events that support projects with a direct and profound impact on over 1,350 lives in Chicagoland every year.
