Fugitive Charged With Minnesota Murder Arrested In Lake County
The FBI arrested a man wanted for murder on the Tri-State in Gurnee on Friday.

GURNEE, IL — A man charged with a murder in Minnesota was captured Friday in Lake County. Philip Leron Miller, 41, was arrested by the FBI Chicago Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force on I-94 at Route 132 Friday morning, according to Illinois State Police and the FBI.
On April 25, Miller, also known as "Ox", was charged with second degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Philip Charles Borer Nelson in an apartment in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Additionally, A federal warrant was issued for his arrest May 11 after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
After his arrest, Miller was turned over to state police and taken to Lake County Jail, where he was being held on two no-bond warrants awaiting extradition to Minnesota, authorities said.

Nelson, 31, was a student mentor at the High School for the Recording Arts in St. Paul, KMSP reported.

According to the criminal complaint, Miller shot Nelson multiple times in the home of an ex-girlfriend around 4 a.m. on April 20.
Miller was later seen on security footage and identified using fingerprints, according to the charges.
