Police said the driver carried a loaded .45 caliber handgun in a holster on his right hip while he transported passengers in Libertyville.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – A Lyft driver faces a weapons charge after authorities pulled him over in Libertyville and found him carrying a firearm concealed in a holster on his right hip, police said. Marco A. Raygoza, 33, had three passengers in his vehicle when the Libertyville officer stopped him at about 1:35 a.m. on June 2 on South Milwaukee Avenue in the area of Redtop Drive. Police saidhis vehicle had only one working headlight and Raygoza had a suspended registration, according to a report from the Libertyville Police Department.
Due to the registration status, a different Lyft vehicle was requested and responded to the scene of the traffic stop in order to continue the fare for the passengers. After the passengers were accommodated and left the scene, Raygoza told police he was carrying a firearm concealed in a holster on his right hip. Raygoza, of 4935 W. 23rd Place, #2, in Cicero, had an Illinois Firearms Owner’s Identification (FOID), but allegedly did not possess a Concealed Carry License (CCL), police said.
He was taken into custody without incident and the firearm, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, was taken as evidence. The vehicle was towed and Raygoza was transported to the Libertyville Police Department where he was processed and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon before being transferred to the Lake County Jail to await a bond hearing.
