Gurnee Man Dies at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- An elderly Gurnee man has died after suffering an apparent medical emergency at the Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee on Monday afternoon.

Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies were alerted by Airport Operations of a medical emergency in Concourse C at approximately 3:40 p.m. Monday.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned that an off-duty Franklin police officer and an off-duty registered nurse were already performing CPR on the unresponsive man.

Milwaukee County Fire and Milwaukee Fire departments also responded. At 4:25 p.m., Andrew Economopoulos, 89, of Gurnee, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had been traveling from New York with two others.
