Lake Co. Cops Arrest Gang Member Wanted for Armed Robbery

​After a month on the lam, Deon L. Brown was arrested in Kenosha, Wis., on Friday. He was wanted for several crimes.

LAKE COUNTY, IL - A 23-year-old North Chicago man who had warrants out for his arrest for armed robbery and other crimes was arrested Friday, authorities said.

Deon L. Brown, of the 1900 block of Sherman Avenue in North Chicago, had active warrants with a $1 million bond for armed robbery, resisting a peace officer and failure to appear in for drug-related offenses, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. Brown, a documented street gang member, has eluded apprehension for over a month.

But cops caught up with him at about 10 a.m. on Friday when members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division along with the U.S. Marshal Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took the wanted fugitive into custody.

Brown was located in the 5500 block of 61st Street in Kenosha by members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division and members of the USMS-GLRFTF, according to police. Brown was seen in the area driving a vehicle.

He initially attempted to flee when law enforcement made contact with him, but he was taken into custody without further incident. Brown was transported to the Kenosha County Jail where he remained Monday morning as he awaited an extradition hearing.
