Lake Co. Officers Make Arrests During St. Paddy's Traffic Detail

Sheriff's office deputies were out in full force between March 11 and 19, keeping an eye out for drunken drivers, traffic violations.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office handed out dozens of traffic tickets during a recent St. Patrick's Day traffic safety campaign.

Officers were out in full force between March 11 and March 18 and on the lookout for traffic violations over the St. Paddy's Day holiday weekend as part of a federal traffic safety campaign.

During the traffic detail, one person was arrested for drunken driving and 10 were taken into custody for driving with a suspended driver's license, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office also issued 31 speeding tickets and 31 seat belt violation citations, according to a news release.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners for the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign. The effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
