Lake Co. Sheriff Deputies On Lookout For Looters
Amid reports of looting across the suburbs, the Lake County Sheriff's Office has increased the number of deputies across its districts.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office has increased the number of deputies patrolling its districts as reports of riots and looting continue to surface late Sunday night in the Chicago area, police said. Authorities will "not hesitate to arrest those involved in acts of violence, property damage, or theft," according to a statement posted on the sheriff's office Facebook page.
The surge in looting reports in the suburbs come a day after a peaceful protest in response to the death of George Floyd turned violent in Chicago.
“Speaking, marching, or protesting are completely acceptable ways to express oneself, but we have to remember doing this peacefully is paramount. Rioting, causing damage, personal injury, and destruction is no way to deliver a message," said Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg.
