Lake County Man Accused Of Mailing Threats To Trump-Appointed Judges

James Lebuhn of Libertyville is accused of mailed letters containing violent threats to two Trump-appointed judges.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A Libertyville man has been charged in federal court after allegedly sending threatening letters to two U.S. district judges who were appointed by President Donald Trump.

James Lebuhn, 65, of Libertyville, has been charged with two felony counts of mailing threatening communications for allegations he sent the letters to judges in Amarillo, Texas, and Fort Pierce, Florida, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The complaint, filed Friday in Chicago, does not name the judges, but the only federal judge sitting in the Amarillo courthouse in the Northern District of Texas is Matthew Kacsmaryk while the only district judge in the Fort Pierce courthouse is Aileen Cannon. Both judges were appointed by Trump.

Both judges are alsop involved in high-profile cases and the letters contained violent threats, which prompted the federal investigation, according to the Chicago Tribune. Authorities say the messages were sent through the mail and were traced back to the Lake County resident.
