LIBERTYVILLE, IL —Here is a look at recent reports made to the Libertyville Police Department.

Deceptive Practice/Scam

The Libertyville Police Department received a report of a scam regarding a company that claimed to provide vital records. On June 29, a Libertyville resident received a letter via mail from a company identified as Records Recovery Service that stated the company could provide the resident with a copy of the land deed for a property recently purchased in Lake County. A $87 check was sent but the copy of the land deed was never provided, according to a police report.

The resident then completed an internet search for "Records Recovery Service," which showed several news stories that identified scams tied back to the company. The resident sent an $87.00 check as payment for the service, however the copy of

Theft of Bicycle

On July 3, a resident told police a bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Pond Ridge Road. The bike was taken at some point during the day on July 2. It is described as a dark blue Giant brand road bike with a dark brown milk crate attached to a rear back rack, according to the police report.

Theft of Bicycle

A bike was stolen from the 700 block of Hayes Avenue on July 8. The bike was taken at some point between 8 and 9:15 p.m. on July 2, according to a police report. The bike is described as a black, blue and yellow Giant brand Revel 2 XS mountain bike.

Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts

A catalytic converter was stolen from a moving truck parked in the 900 block of east Park Avenue during the early morning hours of July 13.
