Libertyville Blotter: Ex Clobbers Man; DUI Arrests
A look at recent arrests made by the Libertyville Police Department.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Officers with the Libertyville Police Department made the following arrests in recent weeks:
DUI, IMPROPER LANE USAGE
At 9:10 p.m., on July 19, Kevin A. Wales, age 60, was seen driving outside his lane of traffic and was stopped on Route 45 near Route 137, according to a police department. Smelling the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, Wales was asked to perform field sobriety tests. Wales, of the 6000 block of Cunningham Court in Gurnee, reportedly failed the tests and was arrested. His vehicle was towed. Wales was processed and released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. He is next expected in court on August 10 at 8:45 a.m. at the Lake County Courthouse.

DOMESTIC BATTERY
At 10:30 p.m. on July 19, a man went to the lobby in the police department and said he had been struck
in the head by his ex-girlfriend and current roommate. Jennifer L. Babitsch, 37, was found at the apartment they both shared and she was brought to the police department. Babitsch, of the 100 block of West Maple Avenue, allegedly told authorities she struck her ex-boyfriend and she was arrested and charged with domestic battery. She was taken to the Lake County Jail to await bond court.

WARRANT
Police were called to Condell Hospital at 8:50 a.m. on July 30 by Tracy Lynn Lopez, 30, who was requesting
assistance from the Police Department. A records check was conducted on Lopez, of the 100 block of East Clarendon Drive in Round Lake Beach, and it was discovered she had an active warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court on a No Valid Driver’s License charge, according to the report. Lopez was taken into custody and processed at Libertyville Police Department where the warrant was confirmed. Lopez was released on bond and is next expected in court on Aug. 24 in DuPage County.
DUI, Traffic Violations
At 11:50 p.m. on July 21, officers allegedly spotted Stephen R. Earley, 49, disobeying a stop sign and failing to signal a turn. He was stopped by police on South Dymond Road at Golf Road where the officers smelled the strong odor of alcohol. Earley, of the 900 block of South Dymond Road in Libertyville, was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a stop sign, failure to signal when required and operating an uninsured vehicle. His vehicle was towed. Earley was processed and released, posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. His court date was scheduled for August 10.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Marijuana
Officers allegedly spotted Oner Medrano, 27, driving outside his lane of traffic and without taillights as he traveled on Milwaukee Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on July 22. He was stopped in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue where officers smelled the odor of alcohol, according to the police report. Field sobriety tests allegedly confirmed that Medrano had been driving under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over .08, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, no taillights and improper lane usage. His vehicle was towed. Medrano, of the 200 block of East Palm Court, was released after posting a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. He is next expected in court on Aug. 10.
