Libertyville DUI Arrests Over Past Week
A look at recent drunken driving arrests in Libertyville.

The Libertyville Police Department pulled over three drunken drivers in recent days, according to police reports. More on the incidents can be found below:
- At about 7:50 p.m. on April 16, authorities were called to the Shell gas station at 2070 Shell Drive in Libertyville for a report of a customer who fell and appeared to be intoxicated. Before police arrived, the customer drove away. He was located a short time later on Butterfield Road where officers saw him driving outside his lane of traffic. The driver, Tyler J. Southard, 24, of 425 N. Fairlawn Avenue in Mundelein, was stopped on Butterfield Lane where police conducted field sobriety tests, according to the police report. Southard allegedly failed the sobriety tests and he was arrested and his vehicle towed. He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over .08 and improper lane usage. He was released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. He is expected in court at 9 a.m. on April 30.
- Police observed a vehicle driven by Jasiel Calleja Perez, 35, of North Chicago allegedly speeding on North Milwaukee Avenue at 9:35 p.m. on April 17. Perez did not immediately respond to the emergency lights but eventually came to a stop on West Ellis Avenue. Officers noted the smell of alcohol on Calleja Perez’s breath and his slurred speech, according to the police report. They attempted to administer field sobriety tests but Calleja Perez refused, allegedly stating he would not comply with the officer’s instructions. When authorities searched his vehicle, they found open liquor, according to the police report. Perez was arrested for DUI, no valid driver's license, driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, failure to yield to a emergency vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and no rear registration light. Perez was taken into custody, processed and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. He is next expected in court on May 2.
- Authorities pulled over Patrick Hernandez, of Park City, 23, at 2:35 a.m. on April 21 for speeding on Milwaukee Avenue near Newberry Avenue, according to a police report. Officers smelled odor of alcohol on his breath and Hernandez was asked to perform field sobriety tests. He failed his tests and was arrested. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over .08, speeding and improper lighting/one headlamp. He was processed and released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. His court date was scheduled for May 18.
