Libertyville Mayor Responds To Sign Removal Request
A village employee reportedly asked a business to take down a Black Lives Matter sign last week.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler said a village employee "misunderstood directions" when he asked a business to remove a Black Lives Matter sign last week. In a statement on Friday, Weppler said the village employee had been asked to take down signs on a public property in the business district.
He then proceeded to go to one business where he asked the business to take down a sign in the business window, Weppler said.
"This was a mistake by the employee and I apologize and take full responsibility for his actions," Weppler said. "He misunderstood the direction he was given."
