Libertyville P.D. Cites 55 During Speed Awareness Day

Area officers were out in full force during Speed Awareness Day on Wednesday.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – The Libertyville Police Department participated in Speed Awareness Day on Wednesday, and issued 55 citations over a 24-hour period. Officers also handed out seven written warnings. Drivers were cited for the following offenses: speeding, excessive speeding (27 mph over the limit), suspended registration, no proof of vehicle insurance, expired registration, distracted driving, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of open alcohol.

Authorities also arrested two for driving while license suspended and arrested one for no driver's license, according to police.

"We spent time in all areas of the village, from main roads to feeder and side streets," according to the Facebook post.
