Libertyville Police Reports: DUI, Public Intoxication, Assault
A look at recent arrests made in Libertyville.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL -- The Libertyville Police Department responded to various calls in recent weeks. Here is a look at some of those reports.
Public Intoxication, Obstructing an Officer
Police were called to Candlewood Suites Hotel, 1100 N. U.S. Highway 45, after receiving a report of a physical domestic incident between a man and a woman at about 11:45 p.m. on April 11. Officers separated the couple. Tony R. Rosa, 28, of the 1400 block of Manchester Road in Mundelein, resisted and obstructed the officer, according to the police report. Rosa was arrested and charged with public intoxication, resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer. The manager of Candlewood Suites requested that Rosa be issued a No Trespass Warning. Rosa was processed at the Police Department and released after signing a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an April 26 court date. Hours later, at about 2:13 a.m. on April 12, Rosa was arrested again after he was seen on the property at Candlewood Suites Hotel. He was charged with criminal trespassing and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
Assault
Authorities were called to the parking lot at Brightstar Corporation, 1950 USG Drive in Libertyville, at 8 p.m. on April 10 after receiving a call from a person stating that a person was attempting to gain entry into his locked car and wanted to fight him. The caller stated he was in the parking lot at Brightstar Corporation and that the offender had gone back inside Brightstar. With the help of Brightstar security and surveillance tapes, police located the man, Brian J. Zavala-Mena, 27, of North Chicago, according to the police report. Zavala-Mena was placed under arrest for assault. He was processed and released after signing a $120 personal recognizance bond pending a May 15, 2019, 1:30 p.m. court date at Mundelein Branch Court.

DUI
Authorities pulled over a dark-colored sedan that didn't have its headlights on between Milwaukee Avenue and School Street at 1:47 a.m. on April 27. The driver, Christopher R. Santi, 27, was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, authorities said. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Libertyville Police Department. His vehicle was inventoried and towed. Santi, of the 200 block of Brookhill Road in Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operation of an uninsured vehicle and driving without headlights when required. He was released after signing a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a pending hearing date scheduled for May 17 in court room 405 of the Lake County Circuit Court in Waukegan.
