Coroner IDs Man Fatally Hit By Metra Train In Libertyville
The incident happened at about 8 a.m. Tuesday just north of the Libertyville Metra station.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A man fatally struck by a Metra train north of Libertyville Tuesday has been identified as Christopher Wagner, 35.
Preliminary autopsy results show Wagner, who most recently had an address listed in Libertyville, died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office. Toxicology results are pending.
Authorities were first called to an area in the 1000 block of Wellington Avenue for a report of a man who'd been struck by a train. shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities. The man was hit by an outbound train on the Metra tracks north of Winchester Road between Milwaukee Avenue and Butterfield Road.

Metra officials told the Daily Herald the man was standing on the track when he was hit by train not long after the train departed the Libertyville station. The train was headed for Fox Lake.
An investigation is ongoing by Metra police and the Lake County Coroner's Office.
