Man Flees Police After Using Fake $100 Bill at Denny’s: Report

The 19-year-old Vernon Hills man now faces charges.

A 19-year-old Vernon Hills man was arrested last month after he used a counterfeit $100 bill at a Denny’s restaurant. The Libertyville Police Department was called to assist the Vernon Hills Police Department in attempting to locate the man's vehicle, which left the restaurant at 890 N. Milwaukee Ave. at about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Libertyville officers tracked down the vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of the Shell gas station, 109 South Milwaukee Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Jaramee T. Payne, 19, opened the door and fled the area on foot, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

He was located by officers nearby on Florence Court and was arrested by the Vernon Hills Police Department.

Upon Payne’s release from custody in Vernon Hills, he was transported to the Libertyville Police Department, where he was charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer for fleeing from the vehicle, according to police.

Payne was processed and released after signing a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
