LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 42-year-old man killed after lying down in the southbound lane of Route 60 near Mundelein late Sunday night as Brett Mild of unincorporated Mundelein. Authorities say Mild was run over by two cars.
Mild was walking home from a bar in the area and was wearing dark clothing prior to the collisions. Authorities don't know why he decided to lie down in the roadway at Route 60 near Taylor Lake Court at about 10:50 p.m., according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Police said a southbound Honda Accord, driven by a 21-year-old Mundelein man, ran him over, and a short time later, a southbound Nissan Murano, driven by a 34-year-old Volo man, also hit Mild.
