With New Pool Coming, Libertyville High Looks At Use For Old Pool

District 128 is considering turning its current indoor pool into a new athletic space once its new $21.5 million natarorium opens next year.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL -- District 128 officials are considering converting the current indoor swimming pool at Libertyville High School into a dance studio, wrestling room and space for other physical education programs once construction is compete on the school's new, $21.5 million natarorium next year, the Daily Herald reports. The preliminary plan was unveiled during a facilities and finance committee meeting on Monday. School officials hope the proposed plan will make good use of its current indoor pool space once its new pool opens in 2019, according to the article.

At the Monday meeting, committee members gave the OK for designs to be drawn up for the proposed plan. School officials believe it would cost about $5 million to revamp the former swimming pool space, according to the Daily Herald. The village board would still need to approve the plan and if its given the go ahead, construction bids would go out in January or February and construction could start in May. The project could be complete by January or February of 2020.
