Paintings of Flowers Bloom at NSYMCA Community Art Gallery
Exhibit of water soluble oil paintings by Carol Keene on display in September.

An intimate look at flowers by Buffalo Grove resident Carol Keene is on display this month at the North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery. The 36 paintings in the show are created with water soluble oil. Apparently, oil and water DO mix.
The public is invited to a reception for Ms. Keene on Friday, September 25th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the North Suburban YMCA, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.
Ms. Keene is a disciplined artist, who is passionate about painting. “I’m fascinated with subtle shifts in color and luminosity, and explore that by working primarily in oils and pastels, but am also adept at acrylics and watercolor,” she explains. “I adore painting flowers; close up portraits of their most intimate parts. The 36 12x12” oil paintings in this exhibit exemplify this.”

Daily painting in her home studio hones her skills as an artist, quiets the ruckus in her creative soul and has generated a nice following, both online and in person. She posts her paintings on her blog at CarolKeene.com and they funnel into Dailypaintworks.com as well as Dailypainters.com.
All of the paintings in the show are for sale, and a portion of the purchase price will benefit the North Suburban YMCA’s Visual Arts Program. Next month the gallery will highlight work by artists with special needs. Anyone with special needs is welcome to exhibit their work – contact Cathy Winnie at cwinnie@nsymca.org for more information.
