Patient Choked Nurse at Condell Hospital: Police
The patient now faces an aggravated battery charge in connection with the Dec. 15 choking incident, authorities said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – A nurse at Condell Hospital was choked by a patient earlier this month, police said. Ronaldo Rivas, of the 21000 block of Engle Drive in Lake Villa, has been charged with aggravated battery in connection with the Dec. 15 incident, according to a report from the Libertyville Police Department. Authorities were called to Condell Medical Center at 9:13 p.m. for a report of the nurse being battered.
The nurse told police Rivas was aggressive and irritable and when she tried to check his blood sugar, he allegedly choked her.
Police noticed red marks on her neck, according to the police report.

Rivas was released from the hospital on Dec. 16 and was arrested on the aggravated battery charge.
Rivas was transported to the Lake County Jail for a bond hearing where he was remanded on a $20,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing set for January 9, according to the police report.
He was also ordered to have not contact with the victim or Condell Medical Center unless for medical purposes.
