Police Blotter: Driving Without Valid License, Insurance

The police blotter is compiled from reports provided by the Libertyville Police Department each week. Readers are reminded that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Mundelein resident Maria Vaney Maldonado-Segura, 26, was stopped by police on Butterfiled Road near Crane Blvd for not having a rear registration light on April 18. A records check revealed she did not have a driver’s license or insurance on the vehicle. She was taken into custody and the vehicle was towed. Maldonado-Segura was later released on a $2,000 bond pending a May 11 court date at Mundelein Branch court.

On April 19, police stopped Mundelein resident Cesar Plaza-Roman, 24, on N. Butterfield Road near Virginia Avenue for driving a vehicle with plates registered to another vehicle. He was also found to be driving with a revoked license and no insurance on the vehicle. He was taken into custody and his vehicle towed. Plaza-Roman was later released after signing a $2,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for May 25 at Lake County courthouse.

Police charged Gurnee resident Bertt Hamm, 37, with improper lane usage on April 21. Police say Hamm traveled through double yellow lines as he attempted to make a left-hand turn from westbound Route 176 onto southbound Milwaukee Avenue. He was taken into custody and later released on a $1,500 bond pending a June 8 court date.

Police stopped Vontrae Tucker-Shead, 18, of the 700 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue, on Milwaukee Avenue near McKinley Avenue when they saw his vehicle to be without headlights on April 22. A records check revealed that Tucker-Shead was driving with a suspended license and he was arrested. A passenger in the vehicle, Devin Miller, 18, of the 100 block of Kenloch Avenue, was found with drug paraphernalia and he was also arrested. Tucker-Shead was later released after signing a $1,500 bond. His court date is scheduled for May 25 at Mundelein Branch court. Miller was released after signing a $1,000 bond pending a May 2 court date at Lake County courthouse.

A records check on a vehicle driven by Waukegan resident David Pope, 25, revealed that he was driving without a valid driver’s license. Police stopped Pope on Milwaukee Avenue, just south of Parkview Drive. Pope was arrested and his vehicle towed. He was later released on a $1,500 bond and given a court date at Mundelein Branch court for May 11.
