Police Blotter: Open Liquor Bottle In Car; Warrant Arrests

A look at recent arrests made by the Libertyville Police Department.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Here is a look at local police department reports from recent days:

WARRANT, COCAINE, OPEN LIQUOR IN CAR

A women who was pulled over after a registration check on her vehicle revealed she was wanted on a warrant now also faces drug and alcohol charges. Michelle L. Burrell, 49, was stopped in Libertyville on Aug. 14. The active warrant out of Lake County was for failing to appear in a larceny case for theft/stolen/intent.

She was stopped on North Milwaukee Avenue near Winchester Road at 11:30 p.m. where she was taken into custody and her vehicle towed, according to a Libertyville Police Department report. During the traffic stop, officers observed an open bottle of liquor in her vehicle, and during processing at the Police Department, a plastic bag containing 1.3 grams of cocaine was found on her, police said.

Burrell, of the 5000 block of Regency Court in Gurnee, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and illegal transportation of alcohol. She was unable to post the 10 percent of her $10,000 bail and she was transported to the Lake County Jail.

DUI

On Aug. 21, police received a report of a red pickup truck swerving on North Milwaukee Avenue at 2:50 a.m. Police pulled over the driver, Ricardo Gonzalez Nepomuceno, 54, on North Milwaukee Avenue just south of Casey Road. Smelling the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, Nepomuceno was asked to perform field sobriety tests, according to the police report.

He failed portions of the field sobriety tests and a breath sample from a portable breathalyzer indicated he was over the legal limit of alcohol to drive, police said.

Nepomuceno was arrested and his vehicle towed. He was processed at the Police Department and was released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

He is next expected in court on September 7.

WARRANT ARREST

At 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 21, officers observed a vehicle with its lights on in the Metra lot off of Newberry Avenue, according to a news release.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle were questioned and asked for identification. When the
occupants were asked if either had any warrants, the driver, George D. Buss, 22, of Libertyville, stated he had a warrant out of DeKalb County for DUI, according to the report.

Buss was arrested and during processing, the DeKalb warrant was confirmed. Buss posted bond and was released pending a September 19, court date in Sycamore, Illinois.
