Police Find Gun, Bag Full Of Syringes, Drugs In Stolen Vehicle

Two brothers from Wisconsin were arrested for possessing the stole vehicle and the one brother was charged with weapons, drug violations.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Two brothers from Wisconsin were arrested in Libertyville for stealing a vehicle this past weekend, authorities said. Authorities pulled over the "suspicious vehicle" in the 600 block of Crane Boulevard at 12:20 a.m. on May 12 and questioned both brothers, Daniel D. Hoffmann, 28, and Anthony J. Hoffmann, 27, both of Rhinelander, Wis. An inquiry through Wisconsin revealed the vehicle was stolen, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

A search of the vehicle turned up a gun, a syringe loaded with fluid; a plastic bag with pills, which were determined to be controlled substances; a grocery bag of 48 syringes; and multiple items of drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

The Hoffmann brothers were taken into custody. Daniel Hoffmann was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. His bond has been set at $50,000 and he remained in custody at the Lake County Jail as of Thursday morning, according to online jail records.

Anthony Hoffmann was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and remained in custody Thursday morning on a $10,000 bond.

Both men are expected back in court on May 30.
