Police Start Issuing Citations For Noontime Deliveries

Trucks making noontime deliveries in Libertyville's west parking lot will face a minimum $25 fine.

Starting Aug. 15, Libertyville police will issue citations to truck drivers making deliveries in downtown’s west parking lot during lunchtime.

Libertyville Village Board approved an ordinance in July prohibiting noontime deliveries in the lot behind the rear of businesses on Milwaukee Avenue and . The move comes after complaints and concerns from businesses and patrons about safety and congestion.

“There are a few stragglers out there wondering if we will issue citations,” Police Chief Clinton Herdegen said during the Aug. 16 Parking Commission meeting.

“We will continue to issue warnings to the drivers who are yet unaware of the ordinance but those that have already been put on notice, we’ll start issuing citations.”

Each citation comes with a $25 minimum fine, and prohibits deliveries in the parking lot west of Milwaukee Avenue between Cook Avenue and Lake Street between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every day of the week.
