Route 45 Reopens After Retaining Wall Collapse
The retaining wall collapsed Monday night.

LIBERTYVILLE,IL -- Route 45 has reopened after crews worked Tuesday to make repairs needed when a retaining wall collapsed. Northbound lanes of traffic between Peterson Road and Route 137 remained reduced to one lane of traffic while both southbound lanes were open, according to a post on the Libertyville Police Department Facebook page. The Lake County Sheriff's Office shut down Route 45 in both directions between Peterson Road and Route 137 over the weekend as officials inspected the structural integrity of the bridge.

Metra officials sent a crew to inspect the bridge late Monday, authorities said. The structural issues lead to Metra busing some passengers instead of allowing trains to cross the bridge. Other passengers experienced extensive delays Monday night, according to Metra's Twitter page.
An inspection revealed the bridge was safe for Metra trains to cross, according to an update from Metra late Monday. Metra trains ran at reduced speeds over the bridge Tuesday.
