Registered Sex Offender In Island Lake Faces Child Porn Charges

ISLAND LAKE, IL — A registered sex offender from Island Lake is due in court Wednesday after being arrested in connection with accusations of possessing child pornography involving a child under 13 years old, according to McHenry County court records. James R. Weeden, 68, faces a felony charge of possession of child pornography, according to court documents.

Weeden was arrested on April 21 and is being held at the McHenry County jail on a $100,000 bond (10 percent to apply).

According to court and jail records, Weeden was appointed a public defender.

Weeden was arrested in December 2014 when he lived in Round Lake in connection with another charge of child pornography possession. A $1 million bond was set for Weeden, who was charged with five counts of felony manufacturing child pornography and five counts of felony possession of child pornography.

He was also accused of taking nude photographs of a child under the age of 13 years old while the child was visiting his home, according to a Lake County Sheriff's office.

According to the sheriff's office, police said they turned up thousands of images and videos identified as child pornography on multiple electronic devices following a search of his home on Dec. 18, 2014.

According to Lake County court records, Weeden was found guilty in 2015 and sentenced to three years in prison.
