Residents May Be Charged $50 Water ‘Turn-On’ Fee

In addition to current fees for turning off water, the village is considering charging residents for water turn-on services.

Village residents who do not pay their water bill on time may be subject to a new ‘turn-on’ fee of $50 per incident, according to minutes approved at Tuesday's Water and Sewer Committee meeting

Currently residents who are behind on their water bill receive a shut-off notice and are charged $50 for the village to shut off their water. The proposed turn-on fee would charge residents who make payments after the village has already turned off their water.

The measure is expected to go before the Village Board in April.
