3 Face Charges in Gurnee Road Rage Shooting

The three Waukegan men remain in custody Monday morning following the shooting last week in Gurnee.

GURNEE, IL - Three Waukegan men face felony charges after authorities said they opened fire at a busy intersection in Gurnee last week, the Lake County News Sun is reporting. Police said two vehicles were traveling west on Washington Street at Greenleaf Street just after 1 p.m. on Thursday when “the guns came out.”

The men who were charged were all in the same vehicle while the driver in a second vehicle was not charged because he had a concealed carry permit, according to the article. Authorities recovered several shell casings from the intersection, according to the Daily Herald.

The three men charged were: Hector C. Arroyo, 36; Alvaro Ruiz, 28, and Ramon Corona, 23, all of Waukegan. The men are all charged with: Aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon as a felon, unlawful use of a weapon as a gang member, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with no firearm owners identification card, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with no concealed carry license and mob action, according to the Daily Herald.

Ruiz also faces charges of manufacturing/delivering marijuana/30 to 500 grams and possession of marijuana 30 to 500 grams, according to online jail records.

All men remained in custody as of Monday afternoon, according to online Lake County Jail records. Corona is being held on a $150,000 bond, Arroyo is being held on a $250,000 bond and Ruiz is being held on a $350,000 bond.
