Sex Offender Charged With Loitering in Park During Libertyville Days

Under Illinois state law, it is unlawful for a sexual predator to be present in any public park.

A 29-year-old Volo man has been charged with loitering in a park during the Libertyville Days festival over the past weekend, according to a police department report.

Police were advised that Jason M. Silsdorf, of 587 Richard Brown Boulevard in Volo, was in Cook Park at about 9 p.m. on June 17. He was identified as a sex offender and arrested and charged with unlawful loitering of a sexual predator, police said.

Under Illinois state law, it is unlawful for a sexual predator or a child sex offender to knowingly be present in any public park building or on the real property comprising any public park. Silsdorf was registered as a sexual predator after being convicted in Cook County of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of an intellectually disabled adult.
