Shared Workspace Approved For Downtown Libertyville
Village officials say the addition along North Milwaukee Avenue could help struggling downtown businesses.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Village Board reversed course this past week, approving measures to allow Brick & Mortar to convert a former grocery store on North Milwaukee Avenue into a flexible, shared workspace.
The vacant building at 416 N. Milwaukee Avenue, which is across from Cook Park, has sat vacant for more than two years, according to the Daily Herald. The full-service office space will be available by the hour, week or month and will give businesses and workers a space to use so they can take a break from working from home.
Those supporting the addition said it could also bring more patrons to downtown coffee shops, restaurants and other businesses, according to the article. And village officials say struggling businesses need that extra boost.

"Most of the businesses are not doing as well as you think they are, but God bless them for their tenacity and hanging in there — and we want to support them," said Libertyville Mayor Donna Johnson during the Tuesday village board meeting.
Brick & Mortar currently has a shared co-working space in Park Ridge with more locations coming soon to Deerfield, Glen Ellyn, Arlington Heights and La Grange.
