Study Finds Issues With Libertyville Police Station

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A firm tasked with analyzing current uses of the municipal building in Libertyville, with hopes of determining solutions and costs to improve operations at the police station and other departments, shared its initial findings during a recent village board meeting.

Hezner Corp. spent about 900 hours collecting data and going over questionnaires completed by various village employees as part of its analysis of the municipal building at 200 E. Cook Avenue, the Daily Herald is reporting.

The building houses the police, public work/engineering departments and police department. Finance and administration departments for the village are located in a different building, which is few blocks to the west, according to the article.

The analysis found the current layout of the building creates, in some areas, dangerous conditions for police officers who have to bring detainees up two flights of stairs and walk them past main administrative areas and offices, according to the Daily Herald.
