Trick-Or-Treater, 10, Struck By Speeding Hit & Run Driver: Police
Libertyville police are looking for a vehicle that struck a 10-year-old boy and then drove off on Wednesday evening.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A trick-or-treater was hit by a car and injured by a hit and run driver, Libertyville police said late Wednesday. Police responded to a report of a hit and run involving a child at around 6:10 p.m. in the 200 block of Pond Ridge to find a 10-year-old boy who had been struck by a vehicle.
Police said the boy had been trick-or-treating with several other children when he was hit. The child was conscious and breathing, and firefighter/paramedics immediately began treatment before taking him to Advocate Condell Medical Center.
The boy was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday night, police said.

Witnesses said the hit and run vehicle, described as a gray, four-door Nissan or Lexus with tinted windows, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it jumped a curb, hit a mailbox and struck the trick-or-treater. The car, which sustained front passenger-side damage in the crash, then fled from the subdivision at a high rate of speed, witnesses told police.
Anyone who has information or witnessed the incident are asked to contact Libertyville police at 847-362-8310. Police are also asking all local car dealerships and auto body shops to be on the lookout for vehicles matching the description of the hit and run car that are brought in for repairs.
