Village Approves Upgrades At Riverside, Adler Pools

Upgrades to the filter rooms at both pools are needed, village officials said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Village officials in Libertyville approved a $316,200 contract with a Waukegan-based construction company to handle necessary mechanical upgrades at Riverside and Adler pools.

The Libertyville Village Board awarded the contract to Stuckey Construction Co. during a village board meeting last week, according to the Daily Herald. Margaret Resnick, recreation director with the village of Libertyville, said the fixes are not going to affect patrons and will deal with "mechanical stuff to keep the pools operating smoothly."

The Adler filter room was reconstructed in 1992. The filters, pumps and valves are now 30 years old and reaching the end of their useful service life, according to village documents. The Riverside swimming pool was built in the late 1960s with the filter room components updated in the 1990s. Those filters, pumps and valves are also near the end of their expected useful life.

Stuckey Construction has been hired to replace filter room components, including filters, pumps, valves and appurtenances, at both swimming pools. An audit completed in 2021 found upgrades were needed as the first step toward modernizing the facilities, according to the village.
