Village Considers Fireworks at Libertyville High Football Games

The Libertyville Village Board will vote on whether to allow fireworks at some home games this year.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Village Board will vote Tuesday on whether to approve a fireworks permit that would allow fireworks displays before a handful of Libertyville High School home football games during the upcoming season. The Libertyville High School Wildcat Parents Association submitted the application for a permit requesting Mad Bomber Fireworks Productions be allowed to put on a three-minute display before games on Sept. 6, Sept. 20, Oct. 11, Oct. 25 and before any potential play-off games, Libertyville Fire Chief Richard M. Carani wrote in a memo to the village board.

The fireworks displays would start at 7:30 p.m., according to village documents.

In addition, those living within 1,000 feet of the display would be notified regarding the fireworks, according to village officials. The fire department provides one ambulance for stand-by at home football games, which is reimbursed by the high school, and that ambulance will "provide sufficient oversight for the fireworks" and a "fire apparatus will not be needed for stand-by at these events," according to Carani.
